Reaching Out

When we struggle with a mental health issues we can often not know what to do. I have a good list of website organisations that are super helpful.

It is important to reach out to people and sites that can improve your well-being because we all know bottling it up inside you does not help. We need to talk to people for support. In Australia alone one in five people will suffer from a mental illness, so remember you are not alone, it is not unnormal or 'weird' and look to websites and your support system for help.

Also talking to a counsellor can really help because you have get out anything you want to say and the counsellor will be able to give you friendly profession advice and support. If your school has a counsellor talk to them as they are their for you and not out of reach.

Beyond Blue is a well know organisation that specialises in mental health. Their website has heaps of facts on mental illnesses and health, ways to talk to others and also mental health professionals, and resources. It is a detailed, comprehensive website that allows you to express your issues and find help.

Reach Out is like beyond blue with information on mental health and figuring out if you have an illness. There are forums, ways to help others and yourself by improving your well-being, tools and apps. Reach Out is not just for mental illness it is also a tool guide for school, uni, studying, friends, family, personal identity, bullying etc.

Sane Australia is a bit different in the way that their organisation goes out to schools and aged care. The website also has lots of information for anyone seeking help for themselves or even a friend or family member. There are chat forums and StigmaWatch helping and educating us so we can not be manipulated by the media and negative talk surrounding mental health and illness.

Head Space & Mind Frame both have information to help people to deal with a mental illness and how to take care of a loved one. It is a good idea to have a look at these two websites if you know someone close to you suffering, so you can make their recovery easier as you are more informed.
